What is a Consent Order, and why does it matter? 📄 What is a Consent Order, and why does it matter? 📄✨

When you and your Ex reach an agreement about parenting arrangements, financial division, or property, a Consent Order is the legal mechanism that turns those informal agreements into binding, enforceable Court orders.

Here’s how it works:
🤝 You agree together: You reach a mutual understanding through direct discussion, negotiation, or mediation (without going to court).
🤝 It’s drafted & reviewed: The details are written into formal legal documents to ensure everything is clear and watertight.
🤝 The Court reviews it: The document is submitted to the Court. A registrar or judge reviews it to ensure it is just and equitable (or in the best interests of the children) before officially making the orders.
🤝 You get certainty: Once approved, it has the same legal weight as a court order made after a trial—giving both parties long-term peace of mind.

Formalising your agreement doesn't mean starting a dispute; it’s simply a practical way to lock in stability for your family’s future.
